10 Body Language Tips for Flirting

10 Signs of Flirting

Flirting is about sending messages or nonverbal communication.

Flirting

  • Raised eyebrows. Research has shown that every time a potential mate appears, people raise their eyebrows slightly. This sign of flirting might be an unconscious sign of curiosity on your flirter’s part. In meeting strangers on the road also a eyebrow flash may be a way to communicate no threat or a approachable attitude.

  • Eye contact. You understand she’s interested when she not only makes eye contact, but holds it for only a significant amount of time. Most probably longer than normal. If she looks at you with head down and eyes up this can indicate a seductive submissiveness. Princess Di had the eyes up and head down glance that had men view her as childlike.  If you’re across the room from one particular person, regular brief instances of eye contact may be strong symptoms of flirting.

  • Hair flick. Women will flick their hair – that is demonstrated in movies on a regular basis. Even women with really short hair can flick their hair. Remember Cameron Diaz of the first Charlie’s Angels movie? Total hair flick after she met the bartender – and her hair was almost as short as his! Normally this will happen when the men enter the room.

  • Twiddling with accessories. This signal that comes from the woman folk involves fidgeting with earrings, twirling hair, and fiddling with necklaces. Men may offer similar indications of flirting: twiddling with their neckties or jingling the change in his pocket. Although this may also be because of a nervous nature the communication can be read as flirting.

  • Leaning in. If he leans close to you, he’s supplying you with a nonverbal message that he wants to be closer (this may increasingly seem to be an understandable sign of flirting, but it’s often misread). Leaning backwards will indicate disinterest.

  • Open body language. This is usually a significant sign of flirting for both men and women. The alternative of open body language (closed body language, which happens to be simpler to describe) is turning away, crossing arms or legs, or pulling back. Open body language can be in the form of the two people mirroring each other with positive body posture.

  • Sideways glances. You’ve seen the sideways glances – and perhaps you’ve even thrown one or two. When you’re attracted to someone, it can also be hard to meet their eyes. Sideways glances are a strong sign of flirting. If the person gives you a sideway glance however other negative body language signals are present it can signify a sarcastic attitude. So watch to see if they give you positives.

  • Considering lips or body parts. If you seem to be stuck looking at his lips or jaw, you most likely are sending a flirting signal. This is an unconscious sign of flirting – when you’re attracted to someone, you can’t help but investigate their assets!

  • Laughter. You mock their jokes, it doesn’t matter how silly or unfunny. This sign of flirting isn’t all about attracting mates. Laughter can endear anyone to your boss or babysitter, which may make them acquiesce in your requests. Laughing can be more about connecting rather than the joke at hand.

  • Light touches. This is a fairly obvious sign of flirting. Lightly touching someone’s arm, knee or shoulder shows interest. It’s a nonverbal signal that you’re open and friendly.

So now your armed with a little bit of knowledge please be careful with it. Remember body language should be read in context, congruence and clusters.
